Your Quarterly Pet Picture

I haven’t posted a pet picture in six months. Everyone is alive and well!

I have concerns

Cycling content: Nothing new to report; I’ve been out for a few 20-30 mile rides as weather and travel permits. But I do have a cycling story….

When I’m out riding, whenever I see Margot in the car, I wave, stick my tongue out and generally make a fool out of myself. Five or six times, the car has passed me and I’ve realized that it’s dark gray, not dark brown, and thus is driven by someone I don’t know. Margot was at the gym in town a month ago, and she saw James Bond (Daniel Craig) there; apparently he has a house a mile or two from ours. They left the gym at the same time, and she realized that he drives…a dark gray car that is otherwise identical to our car. So, Daniel Craig, if you read this, the fool on a bike who has been waving and sticking his tongue out at you is me!

I’ll get around to some real posts shortly…moving in just a few weeks.

Monthly Pet Picture: The Snail Hunter

Just a brief aside from all the cycling related content: My girl Macadamia (Macs).

Snail Hunter (Large)

She recently developed the habit of fishing for snails in our lake. She ferociously chases, attacks, and crushes them, and then devours the meat. No ill effects that I can see, except, perhaps, for cranial gigantism. The thing I don’t understand: such behavior is to be expected from Dogues de Bordeaux, not from Cane Corsos. Thankfully, her vicious behavior is constrained to molluscs, she’s a big giant sweetheart with people and, as I recently found out, with mice. She’s useless for pest control!

Two days off from riding, and then I’m taking a casual 85-mile ride with Doug H. Of course we put all the brutal climbing at the tail end of the ride.

Your Weekly Pet Picture

I think it’s funny that, on a blog that is 90% about bikes, my most viewed posts are pet pictures. So here’s Pandora and Winston Churchill. They’re buds.

Panda and Winnie

I was going to save this for Christmas, since it reminds me of a Madonna and Child painting, but I couldn’t wait that long.

New route coming tomorrow. The only reason I didn’t post it tonight was that there’s something bad happening with images at WordPress. Or it could just be my stupid satellite internet. WildBlue, GFY.

By the way, if you like looking at pictures of bikes, roads, or pets (and really, who doesn’t?), my Flickr stream is here.

What I Wake up to Every Morning

Winston, scheming my demise.

Two feet of snow…no Festive 500 for me. I’ll report on this week’s rides in a few days, but suffice it to say that I only managed 75 miles before the roads froze solid, followed by copious snow.

Since it looks like I’ll be off the bike for a week or more because of the weather, or at least until my Marathon spiked tires arrive (900 grams each!), I won’t be posting new routes for a few weeks. However, I have a bunch of old ones to post; if I get desperate maybe I’ll do a product review or two…and of course pet pictures can always serve to fill in the gaps.

See you in a few days!
